A Long Petal of the Sea

A Long Petal of the SeaA Long Petal of the Sea by Isabel Allende
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

“Nothing can grow in the shade of secrets, she would say, love needs light and space to flourish.”

I am a lover of international historical fiction that brings me to another place and time. I am also a lover of multigenerational epics. This one had my name written all over it. But sometimes less is more. Way too long and way too heavy on the politics. Such a beautiful story of Roser and Victor through the years. But to me they were a backstory with this novel focusing more on the political climate at the time. 3.5 stars
